VIOLIN “POSEIDON” – CREMONA MONDOMUSICA 2024

Violin “Poseidon” – Inspired by the Stradivari model, this masterpiece features a one-piece back of exquisite, flamed Balkan maple. The top is made from flamed Italian red spruce from Val di Fiemme, the very region where Stradivari himself selected wood for his violins. Both woods have been seasoned for over 10 years. Finished with a stunning orange-brown spirit varnish created in-house, the violin is adorned with elegant wood fittings.

This flamed maple has inspired me to give the violin a powerful and evocative name: “Poseidon.” It recalls the god of Greek mythology, associating the violin with the fluidity of the waves, just like the ones that seem to be embroidered into the wood. The fluidity of the waves evoked by the grain almost seems to foreshadow the music that will come to life through the strings, transforming the violin into not just an instrument but a true work of art tied to the natural elements. It’s a name that bestows upon the instrument an aura of majesty and mystery, making it truly special.
